WANDERERS have agreed a deal with Forest Green to settle the money owed on striker Christian Doidge.

Sharon Brittan and Emma Beaugeard met with Rovers owner Dale Vince and CEO Henry Staelens last week to square away a debt owed by the previous regime which led to the dramatic collapse of his transfer in January.

Wanderers are understood to have owed wages which were paid by Rovers over the course of his loan at Bolton.

Doidge now plays in the SPL for Hibs and has been tipped to make the Wales squad for next year's European Championships.

“It was a pleasure to once again meet Dale and Henry and to be given a tour of New Lawn, a stadium we had never visited before,” said Brittan.

“It was enlightening to hear their philosophies which are bringing success to the football club.

“We were also treated to a delicious lunch and had a wonderful time at the stadium.

“I’d like to thank Dale and Henry for their hospitality and wish them well for the remainder of the season.”

Vince added via Twitter: “Had a great meeting with Sharon and the team from BWFC. We talked about football and the rogues that sometimes get hold of clubs, and what we can do to change football for the better, the sustainability initiatives of FGR and what BWFC could do.

“Had some great plant-based food (Sharon’s new nickname is Two Plates) and did a deal to settle the Christian Doidge saga.

“Fab new leadership team at BWFC, good for the club and for football more generally. Especially pleased for the fans.”
