KEITH Hill has called for maximum backing from the Wanderers fans as his side look to lift themselves off the foot of the League One table.

Victory against Shrewsbury coupled with defeat for Southend at Wimbledon could see Bolton move up a place in the league for the first time since March.

And Hill hopes any lingering grumbles from a scrappy 3-2 victory against Southend last time out are cast aside tomorrow afternoon, with the manager looking to fans for some inspiration.

“It really is a difficult game,” he told The Bolton News. “I don’t think we can waste time pointing fingers saying we should be doing this, or that.

“We’ve got to get those players in a fit condition. I can’t shuffle the pack – we are pretty visible, this is what we have got. There isn’t a lot of surprises I can drop on that team-sheet. So we need every bit of a lift we can get.

“I think if you looked at the whole Southend game and get rid of all the negativity from that 20 minutes and see things in isolation, we conceded from two set plays.

“I have to look back and wonder what the fuss was about. There was a call to not to this, not do that, but I am a manager and I have to make decisions. I have to sleep at night and if I select players who I don’t think are supporting me, then I am letting myself and the supporters down.”
