THE third and final Petzl Night Runner race of 2019/20 arrived in a very wet and windy Rivington on Saturday night, when Barry Wroe led home a five-strong Lostock AC contingent.
Racing through the evening and starting and finishing at Rivington and Blackrod High School, the 10k route takes the runners up through Lord Levenshulme’s oriental gardens before returning to the Pidgeon Tower and then around the Pike before a final ascent to Two Lads and then a fast descent back to the school.
An already technical multi-terrain run was made even more difficult by the heavy rain causing treacherous conditions underfoot, none of which caused any concern for Barry Wroe as he led home the Lostock contingent in 1:13:32.
Veteran Ian Burns took more time off his 2019 race to finish seventh in his age group in 1:19:11. Not to be outdone by her husband Barry, Emma Wroe turned in an equally impressive time of 1:21:09, while Ben Tyrer, in his first run out in the green vest of Lostock, finished in 1:22:18.
Alan Mather completed the Lostock contingent with a time of 1:29:32.
