WANDERERS Ladies booked themselves a meeting with Burnley the Lancashire FA Challenge Cup final with a convincing 10-0 victory against Preston-based Sir Tom Finney Ladies.

Safron Newhouse helped herself to five goals, and Erin Slade four in what proved to be a masterclass of finishing from Chris Knights’ side.

Bolton got off to the dream start when Slade converted Rachel Hindle’s low cross just two minutes into proceedings. Following the opener, Wanderers fought hard to get a second goal and they managed just that 14 minutes later when a great one-two between Newhouse and Erin Slade left Safron Newhouse one-on-one with the goalkeeper, to fire her side into an early two goal lead.

Bolton made their intentions very clear just 90 seconds later as they added a third. Rachel Hindle latched onto a smart through-ball and lobbed the goalkeeper from the edge of the box.

Slade gave Bolton a four-goal advantage inside the first half an hour after she went around the goalkeeper and slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

There was still time for another Bolton Wanderers goal before the break as Newhouse added her second and Bolton’s fifth on the stroke of half time, after a mistake at the back from Sir Tom Finney Ladies.

The goals kept on coming in the second half as Newhouse added Bolton’s sixth goal on 50 minutes and the goals just kept on flowing as Slade slotted home her own third.

Newhouse upped the stakes with her fourth but her strike partner Slade was not to be outdone, and rifled home Wanderers’ ninth from 35 yards.

An outstanding semi-final performance was rounded off with Safron Newhouse’s fifth goal of the game and the Whites’ tenth goal in the last minute.

Bolton now look ahead to West Bromwich Albion Ladies at home this Sunday in the quarter final of the FA Plate. The game, played at Atherton Colls’ Skuna Stadium, kicks-off at 2pm.

Wanderers: Myler, Miller, Lysons, Cook, Bell (Ogdon 79), Hindle, Foster, Slade, Newhouse, Bailey, Riley.
