GWEN Kinloch starred again taking first ladies prize at the Park and Run 10k in Preston.

The race, which was formerly the Hunters 10k, was keenly contested by more than 250 runners, Kinloch held off a strong ladies contingent to finish the race in 43mins 28secs.

Also finishing in the race was Andy Warburton who had a good race and finished in a time of 51:59.

In a strong week for Burnden Road Runners’ ladies, Emma Walker took part in the Heaton Park half marathon. She finished the four-lap course in a time of 2:16:46.

Four Burnden members took to the seaside for the St Anne’s 10-mile road race. They ran the course, which took in the promenade and Fairhaven Lake, in tricky conditions but they did not stop the quartet putting in some strong times.

Results

Steven Bate 1:18:41, Jen Forkin 1:54:41, Shirley Robinson 1:54:41 and Nicola Hardy 2:05:40.

Earlier in the weekend, the club held their annual presentation evening, celebrating the club championship from 2019, along with other selected awards being presented.

Twenty-three men, and the same number of ladies, completed the internal championship.

Other awards presented on the night went to Carolyn Barker (Chairman’s Award), Andy Dunleavy (Members’ Award), Gareth Doherty (Men’s Captain Awatd), Gwen Kinloch (Ladies’ Captain Award) and Debbie Allison (New Starter’s Award).
