LIAM Edwards has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a broken kneecap.

The Wanderers defender suffered the injury in a training ground collision and will find out on Monday whether he needs an operation.

Edwards has made seven first team appearances this season, the last of which was on January 28 in the 1-1 draw with Bristol Rovers.

Keith Hill confirmed the defender suffered a “serious injury” and said his squad was dealing with a few other problems in the build-up to Saturday’s home game against Accrington Stanley.

“We have had a few injuries where players haven’t been on the training pitch,” the Bolton boss said. “Muhammadu Faal has had a laceration to his heel, a training ground incident.

“Harry Brockbank is ill at this moment in time.

“Ronan Darcy is back on the field but probably won’t make the weekend.

“The rest of the players, with the exception of Will Buckley, are fighting at 85-90 per cent fitness.”
