Bolton Hockey Club’s men’s first team have had their promotion to the North West League Premier Division confirmed.
In March the team finished in second place just one point behind league champions Wigan, however it was unknown how many teams would be promoted. To the delight of Bolton Hockey Club members, the league body decided to promote two teams, meaning that Wigan and Bolton will be moving up a level when the new season begins later this year.
Led by coaches Sean McGovern and Chris Dean, Bolton lost just two games all season with victories over local rivals Bury and Rochdale among the season highlights.
The defeats came in October with victory over Bury the following month giving them the momentum to go through the rest of the campaign undefeated.
Promotion rounds off a historic year for the club as they completed their first season at their new pitch located off Chorley New Road.
Anyone interested in getting involved with the club, who always welcome new players, is asked to contact Bolton Hockey Club on social media.
