FARNWORTH fight star Jack Flatley will soon be back on the big stage.

‘Quiet Storm’ challenges JJ Metcalf for the Commonwealth super-welterweight title behind closed doors at the BT Sport Studio in Stratford on October 10.

Flatley, the former English champion, was due to take on Anthony Fowler at the Manchester Arena back in March but was forced to pull out due to a broken bone in his foot.

Now fully fit, the Alex Matvienko-trained fighter is looking to inflict a first defeat on ‘Kid Shamrock’ who has won all 21 of his contests thus far.

The Liverpool man won his belt in June of last year by stopping former world title challenger Jason Welborn in round eight.

Elite Boxing’s Flatley won his English title by defeating Craig Morris in a thriller at the Bolton Whites Hotel in May 2019 before dropping his title on points to Harry Scarff at the same venue the following September.

The 25-year-old returned to winning ways by defeating Alastair Warren in December and then was frustrated by injury before lockdown struck.

In all, Flatley has won 16 of his 18 fights with one win and one draw on his record.

His fight with Metcalf will be live on BT Sport, the show headlined by Welsh star Liam Williams defending his British title against his mandatory challenger Andrew Robinson from Redditch.

The 28-year-old, who is in mandatory position himself for the WBO World middleweight title held by Demetrius Andrade, will be seeking to keep up his winning streak while awaiting the purse bid process for his shot at the big prize.

Also on the card, Anthony Cacace will defend his Lonsdale belt against Lyon Woodstock.

Top prospects Dennis McCann, Ryan Garner, Mark Chamberlain and Micky Burke are also all in action on the Frank Warren bill.
