Social Circle took the bragging rights in the match between the two Farnworth clubs in the Anthony Axford Bolton Cricket League.

Batting first they made 206-8 with Joe Capstick scoring 68, before Chris Barrow hit 25 off 14 balls, including three sixes.

Andy Wareing then improved on this with 29 off the same number of deliveries.

Callum Rushmore and Ross Sutton took three wickets each for Farnworth.

Farnworth were then dismissed for 57 in reply, Simon Booth top scoring with 12, Dave Mather taking 5-23 and Barrow rounding off a good all-round performance with 3-8.

With there being no play in the games between Walkden and Little Lever and Horwich and Kearsley, Westhoughton move to the top of the league, one point ahead of Walkden, courtesy of an eight-wicket win against Lostock.

Adam Patel recorded figures of 6-8 and Matthew Morris 3-14 as Lostock totalled just 39.

This could have been worse but for Louis Greenhalgh’s 13 late in the innings.

Rob Houghton then led the reply with 20 not out, James Evans taking the two wickets to fall.

Little Lever are third three points adrift of Westhoughton, with Heaton fourth a further two points behind.

In the Association, Golborne were six-wicket winners against Darcy Lever.

Put in to bat, Darcy set a total of 161-6 thanks to 50 from opener Chris Fenn and top scorer James Walsh-Hill who made a solid 58.

Ben Smith and Neil Tonge took two wickets apiece.

Golborne”s target was reduced to 136 due to a rain interruption and was set up by a 54-run partnership between Joe Smith, 28, and Ciaran Vasey, 19.

They ultimately reached their target for the loss of four wickets.

Dominic Gavin was the pick of Darcy’s bowlers with 3-37.

Adil Baig fired Eagley to a dominant win against Adlington.

Having won the toss and electing to bat, Adlington were soon in trouble losing four of their first five batsman for a duck, ultimately being bowled out for 34.

Baig ripped through the batting line-up with 7-21 before hitting 24 not out to help his side to a comfortable nine-wicket win.

A century from professional Tilaksha Malshan helped Astley Bridge to victory over Blackrod.

The paid man hit a run-a-ball 101 in a total of 156-8 having been put in to bat.

In reply, Blackrod were restricted to 111-9 thanks in the main to Amal Dalaguda’s 6-31.

Little Hulton captain Tajamul Khan’s five-wicket haul helped his side to victory over Tonge.

Put in to bat, Zafar Gohar’s 42 and a quickfire 46 from Arsalan Javed helped Little Hulton to 156 all out.

Khan then took 5-34 as Tonge were bowled out for 107.
