IAN Evatt says Wanderers have a relatively clean bill of health as they prepare to welcome Bradford City in the Carabao Cup.

Preparing for his first match in the Bolton dugout, the new head coach will be without Dennis Politic (knee), Liam Edwards (knee) and Muhammadu Faal (foot) – but defender Reiss Greenidge, who has missed the last couple of friendlies, should be available for selection.

“We are almost fully fit – just one or two niggles but that’s the nature of the beast in pre-season,” Evatt said. “But the majority are fit and ready to go.

“We will pick horses for courses, so to speak. When we play against a team we’ll identify strengths and weaknesses and pick players accordingly. The team on Saturday will be the right one to beat Bradford but does that mean that it will be the same team on Tuesday night, no it doesn’t.”

Stuart McCall will have to do without summer signing Levi Sutton, who is suspended but otherwise has a fully fit squad to choose from.

He is hoping to add a couple of new signings before the start of the season - but no additions are expected before kick-off on Saturday.

"We can’t press Premier League teams for answers here and now," he told the Telegraph and Argus. “We’re waiting for a phone call and might be able to get somebody in.

“If it doesn’t happen or he goes another place then we’ll move on.

“But we’re also mindful that we’re giving the lads here a chance to show what they can do and we’ve been really impressed with how they’ve gone about their jobs.

“At the minute we’re fortunate we’ve got nobody injured. But give it those six weeks before the window closes and I’m confident we’ll have brought another couple of players to the club.”
