WANDERERS laboured to a goalless draw with Grimsby Town at the University of Bolton Stadium – but how did the players rate?

Ian Evatt’s side produced their first clean sheet since March but failed to register a single shot on target in what proved a frustrating afternoon.

WANDERERS (3-4-1-2).

BILLY CRELLIN… 6.

Had a brief flurry of action about 15 minutes in but other than being a link in Wanderers’ metronomic passing chain, he did not have a tough afternoon.

HARRY BROCKBANK…6.5.

Calm and composed at the back, working effectively with Hickman until the second-half substitutions. Not the answer as a right wing-back.

RICARDO SANTOS…7.

Another step in the right direction for the big man, who was literally head and shoulders above his team-mates.

RYAN DELANEY…6.

Defended what he needed to defend and won’t have many easier days. Nearly got on the end of a Crawford corner.

JAK HICKMAN…6.

Always available on the right flank in the first half. Evatt wasn't happy with the consistency of delivery - but many were left questioning why he was subbed without an obvious replacement.

ANTONI SARCEVIC…5.

Had a little purple patch before half time but Wanderers needed a spark from the skipper in the second half that never really arrived.

ANDY TUTTE…6.

Broke up everything early on and typically looked forward in possession. Different story after the interval when it became far too static.

JAMIE MASCOLL…5.

Got into some decent positions as Hickman continued his bombardment from the right but didn't deliver as much from his flank. Looked leggy later in the game and was replaced by Gordon.

ALI CRAWFORD…5.

Should be bossing a game like this. Went as close as anyone to scoring from set pieces but his link-up play dried up significantly as the match wore on.

NATHAN DELFOUNESO…5.

Not much came off for Delfouneso, who seemed to drop deeper and deeper the longer Wanderes’ torture went on.

EOIN DOYLE…5.

Only 29 touches in the game and, unusually, looked unwilling to shoot when he did get the ball in the penalty box. Strangled by the deep-lying defence.
