SHAUN Miller faces a scan on his calf after a setback on the comeback trail at Wanderers.

The former Crewe striker has featured just twice for the Whites since signing at the start of September and was due to complete a two-week ‘boot camp’ to get him up to full fitness this week.

But Ian Evatt has revealed that Miller could now be missing for another couple of weeks after breaking down in training.

“Shaun is still feeling some part of his calf so he has gone for another scan to find out exactly what he’s dealing with,” said the head coach. “It’s not great news for him because we were looking forward to getting him back out there.”

Otherwise, Wanderers have had positive news in the treatment room this week with full-back Gethin Jones now out of the protective boot and looking at another few weeks out with an ankle injury.

Lloyd Isgrove has shown good progress on the training ground and could even feature in the squad at Barrow tomorrow night.

Midfielder Tom White has also taken steps in the right direction after an ankle injury and is likely to be side-lined for another month.

Evatt reviewed the Oldham defeat with his players on Monday to analyse the areas which let them down at the UniBol.

“Number one, we’ve got to be better and make better decisions in possession,” he said. “I think we conceded possession too often from being in comfortable possession and that’s what led to our problems.

“We made our own problems, not from Oldham’s good play, but from us giving the ball away in poor areas or making poor decisions to which they counterattacked us and the 95th minute goal is obviously a kick in the teeth.

“We had an attacking set play which we’re thinking can we nick it, and then they counter attack and run virtually 75 yards untouched which isn’t good enough and isn’t acceptable.

“We’ve gone over it today but we have to move on and there were lots of good bits in that game and I didn’t feel like there was after the game on Saturday but sometimes until you watch it back and until you analyse it and take the emotion out of it, there were lots of positives.

“We should have been ahead in the game, we had some good chances, some good opportunities but we didn’t take them. We have to start taking them, but also we have to stop giving the opportunity to be counterattacked on by making poor decisions in possession.”
