THE cavalry looks like it will arrive at the right time for Ian Evatt’s battle-weary Wanderers.

Eoin Doyle and Lloyd Isgrove could be reunited in the starting line-up to face Salford City on Friday night in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

Evatt desperately needs an injection of energy into the squad after Saturday’s FA Cup exit, during which a handful of his players turned out with minor injuries.

Antoni Sarcevic and Nathan Delfouneso have been struggling with back and hamstring problems, respectively, but the return of Doyle, Isgrove, Shaun Miller and – potentially – wing-back Gethin Jones is a boost for the Bolton boss.

“They are going to be big players for us,” he told The Bolton News. “We need them back and firing.”

Isgrove and Miller both made substitute appearances over the last couple of games, building up to a possible start at the UniBol this weekend.

Evatt has been pleased with their progress and though all eyes will be on whether Billy Crellin retains his place in goal against Salford, the Wanderers boss admits there are selection issues elsewhere on the pitch too.

“We’ve got lots of players that aren’t playing 100 per cent fit,” he said. “Antoni Sarcevic is really struggling with his back. Nathan’s struggling but their attitude is fantastic. They want to soldier on.

“Sarce was in a lot of pain over this week and before the game but there was no way he was going to not play. He wanted to play because that’s what he wants. He’s captain of this football club and he’s proud of it.

“We’re not going to make excuses about that, it’s the same for everybody.

“You look across the board and there’s so many injuries, so many soft tissue injuries with the way the league’s been set out and how tough it is and demanding in a short period of time, it’s going to be tough for everybody.

“We’re in the same boat as everybody so we’ll carry on.”
