THERE is an option for Peter Kioso to return to parent club Luton in January but Ian Evatt is hoping it is one that does not get utilised – for the player’s sake as well as Wanderers.

Kioso had a starring role in midweek, securing the win at Scunthorpe with an expert finish to round off a stunning build-up.

And Evatt feels that there are mutual benefits for the wide man having a run of games in his line-up after arriving on a season-long loan from Kenilworth Road.

“Peter is benefitting from playing every week and we are helping develop him as a player,” said the Bolton boss.

“In January, yes, there is a recall option, but only to a certain cut off date. It’s a season-long as far as we’re concerned.

“We think Peter’s a very, very good player, he’s a wonderful human being as well and we’d like to keep him here.”

In making Kioso his 20th summer signing Evatt knew he had a player who could make an impact; someone who could provide a moment of magic to unlock the sometimes stubborn resistance of League Two defences.

The same theory applies to former Aston Villa and Blackpool forward Nathan Delfouneso, and the two combined with devastating effect against Scunthorpe to make it four wins on the spin on Tuesday night, with Delfouneso taking two defenders out of the game with step-overs before setting up Kioso to score the winner.

Evatt said: “We’ve signed these players to be difference-makers and I think Nathan is a difference maker.

“I think we’ve got a few, but the whole point of playing out from the back is to try and draw the opposition out to try and create one v ones for our forward players and we’ve got some good talent at the top end of the pitch, they’re top players.

“We don’t just play out for the sake of it to look nice, we’re trying to affect the opposition so in turn we can play to Nathan’s strengths and create the one v one opportunities.

“When he got that on Tuesday night, his bit of magic was great, but it was the final decision and the final pass which makes everything. If he ends up crossing it and hitting the first man, no-one remembers the skill, but because of the pass and the way he picked out Peter, everyone talks about the skill and what a great move it was. The final detail and that final decision is the most important part.

“We work on getting bodies and numbers forward, getting wing backs in the box, midfield players in the box, forwards in the box, and it was good on Tuesday that we saw the fruits of that.”
