LIAM Gordon has extended his loan spell at Dagenham and Redbridge until the end of the season.

The wing-back has been left kicking his heels since returning to the National League club last month, featuring just once in a 1-0 victory against Dover on Boxing Day.

The entire of the Daggers’ coaching and playing staff was then placed into self-isolation after a number of positive Covid-19 tests, which also forced postponements in the league.

Daryl McMahon’s side return to action tonight against Stockport having played just one FA Trophy game in the last 24 days.

That ended up in a 3-1 defeat to Sutton United – but McMahon hopes his players are now fit and firing after an unusually long lay-off.

“[It was] disappointing to lose, but I’m hoping that has blown a few cobwebs out as we haven’t played since Boxing Day,” he told Daggers TV.

“It’s unusual to not just have one or two players out, but the whole squad at home isolating for two weeks, so hopefully we can move forward now.”

Gordon made 15 appearances for Wanderers after signing on a free transfer from Dagenham in the summer but struggled to make the grade at League Two level.

His last appearance was in the Papa John’s Trophy against Newcastle United’s Under-21s, after which Gethin Jones, Harry Brockbank, Jamie Mascoll, Reiss Greenidge and new loan signing Ben Jackson have all been used in his position.

The 21-year-old Guyana international has one more year on his contract so is due to report back for duty in the summer at the University of Bolton Stadium.
