IAN Evatt believes Wanderers will present a strong case to the Football Association to have Marcus Maddison’s red card against Morecambe overturned.

The Bolton boss confirmed that an appeal has been lodged against referee Oliver Langford’s decision in the hope the playmaker can be involved against Stevenage on Saturday.

“We have appealed,” he said. “We have got some very good evidence, still photos and video clips from both directions showing that Madders went in one-footed and actually won the ball and, for me, it shows that it wasn’t a red card.

“But we all know that the most likely scenario is that the referee will support the referee’s decision.”

Wanderers have had no Covid-19 issues this week after the latest round of tests and will bring back Kieran Lee and one un-named player into the squad on Saturday.

Harry Brockbank stands to miss up to a fortnight with a groin injury picked up during the Morecambe draw but Evatt is happy to report the problem is not a serious one.

“I think he damaged his ego because he should have scored,” smiled the manager. “He has a slight groin issue and was initially very sore, however, he has presented a lot better today so we’re hopeful it is not as bad as first feared and it will literally be a week or two.”

It was also revealed that Arthur Gnahoua dislocated his shoulder during Tuesday night’s game.

“It was yanked out of the socket but went straight back in, so he continued,” added Evatt. “He is okay now and other than that, we’re all good.”
