SAHIR Iqbal will now return to the ring next month, it has been announced.
Farnworth’s top prospect had been due to be in action against Essex’s Liam Wells tonight, but will not be part of the MTK Global show at the University of Bolton Stadium.
The undefeated 24-year-old will instead fight in his hometown on March 12, as MTK use the Whites Hotel and adjoining venue as a ‘bubble’ to stage behind-closed-doors events.
Welterweight Iqbal is looking to build on the most impressive of his eight wins to date after triumphing in a WBC Youth title fight against Maredudd Thomas in August.
The March 12 show will be headlined by two title fights as Lewis Crocker defends his WBO European welterweight title against Deniz Ilbay, and Gary Cully meets Viktor Kotochigov for the vacant WBO European lightweight title.
Morecambe featherweight Isaac Lowe, a training partner of Tyson Fury’s, will be in action.
Tonight’s action at the UniBol sees Sean McComb face Gavin Gwynne for the vacant Commonwealth lightweight title, Darren Tetley and Samuel Antwi meet for the vacant English welterweight title and DP Carr defend his Southern Area super-featherweight title against Dean Dodge.
Both shows are live on YouTube channel IFL TV as well as being on ESPN+ in the US.
