FOREST Green boss Mark Cooper believes his side can end Wanderers’ sparkling run – if they can get it right at the top end of the pitch.

The Gloucestershire men were held to a goalless draw at Mansfield Town on Tuesday night but had a big second-half chance to claim all three points through leading scorer Jamille Matt.

Forest Green have been leading from the front for most of the League Two campaign and go into Saturday’s televised game having won three and lost three of their last eight games.

Cooper hopes his side can “eradicate” mistakes made in defeats against Cambridge, Southend and Stevenage and be more clinical in front of goal to claim three points in the first-ever meeting between the two clubs at the New Lawn.

Just 24 years ago there were six divisions between the two clubs as Rovers were in the Southern League and Bolton were in the Premier League.

Now, Cooper leads his side into action knowing they are two points better off than Wanderers in the table.

“We’re playing Bolton Wanderers of League Two now,” he said. “They have had a brilliant run, they have got some good players, a good manager. We’re getting ready for a tough game but we think we can make it a tough game for them as well. It’s one where we are going to try everything to win.”

Cooper felt a draw at Mansfield was a fair result in midweek, albeit he felt they lacked slightly in the final third of the pitch.

“I can’t question the boys’ commitment and they gave us a really good reaction from Saturday,” he said, referring to a 1-0 defeat at Cambridge.

“We got into some brilliant positions but didn’t produce that bit of quality that is needed to win games. I was pleased with a point, it could have been three, but we need a bit more quality at the top of the pitch.

“We need to take it into Saturday now because it’s a good game, isn’t it? It is on telly, two good teams. I am looking forward to it.”

Wanderers fans will NOT be able to watch a visual feed of the game via iFollow because of the broadcasting agreement with Sky Sports.

Audio-only is available via the regular iFollow platform, with commentary from Bolton FM, but if fans do not have a subscription to Sky Sports then they can purchase a Now TV 24-hour pass for £9.99 and watch the game.
