AS HARROGATE come towards the end of the first season of their EFL adventure a trip to the UniBol is another moment where fans will be sorely missed, says boss Simon Weaver.

A significant year in the North Yorkshire side’s history has been played out without fans present and that is especially evident at places like the UniBol.

Weaver’s side have adapted to life in League Two well and while winless in their last five games, losing four of them, Town head to Bolton in 16th and firmly in the middle of the fourth tier pack.

“It’s always a shame that the fans have missed out on so many new experiences, new grounds and huge grounds this season,” the Harrogate boss said. “We owe it to them again on Saturday to turn up and put in a 100 per cent grafting performance and put Bolton under pressure and ask questions of them, like we did in the first game.

“Admittedly we lost narrowly (2-1 in October) but again we had the lion share of possession and chances.”

Weaver has watched on impressively as Ian Evatt has overseen a transformation of Wanderers’ fortunes which means they head into today’s game with automatic promotion on their minds.

“I think they changed it around in the January transfer window and brought in some fantastic signings for this level and really increased the depth in quality of the squad and it took off,” he told his club’s website. “Credit to Ian Evatt, he changed it around and their fortunes changed.

“They have huge momentum going into the business end of the season.”

Like many in League Two, Weaver makes the trip to the UniBol eyeing a real scalp following Wanderers’ fall to the fourth tier.

“Overall it’s a happy camp and we want to strive for that win and what better place to do it than at Bolton,” the former Lincoln defender said.

“I suppose that’s the problem they face in that everyone wants to turn up and beat them because they’re such a huge club at this level.

“I think they can take it as a compliment, they’re a big club so we’ll be doing all we can.”
