ANTONI Sarcevic could return for Bolton Wanderers in as little as two weeks, Ian Evatt has revealed.

The midfielder has been out of action since March 13 with a hamstring tear and it was feared he could miss the rest of the season.

But after making sound progress on the training ground, Whites boss Evatt believes the player will be pushing to play a part in the run-in.

“If you asked Sarce, he’d probably say Morecambe,” he said on a potential date to return. “But we are going to monitor him closely and like I have said before, because of the nature of the injury, we have to be slightly cautious, so it will be a decision from the physios.

“I am not going to put any pressure on them. Sarce will probably do that for himself because he wants to get back but it has to be a decision made by physios when they are happy and ready for him to step back in.”

Evatt reported no new injury issues ahead of Tuesday night’s game against Salford City but did give an update on Bolton’s two long-term injured players, Dennis Politic and Liam Edwards.

“Dennis is doing really well, we’re doing quite a lot of football work with him at the moment and he is enjoying the finishing sessions,” he said. “His fitness is great and he really looks after himself, he’s a dedicated young man, so he is doing really well but there’s no real rush with him. We will take our time.

“Liam was doing great, he was improving and then picked up a slight calf injury. That happens when you have been out for so long, you can pick up other niggly injuries because your body does not have the tolerance.

“It is frustrating for Liam - but the good news is his knee is feeling a lot better.”
