IAN Evatt reckons his Wanderers are going to be hard to stop in the promotion run-in as they ran up another huge result at Salford.

The Whites moved four points clear in the top three as Lloyd Isgrove’s first-half effort sealed a dramatic three points at the Peninsula Stadium.

Evatt says his side were well worth the points, and did not shy away from its significance at the top end of the table.

“I thought we deserved to win,” he said. “To a man we were magnificent.

“First half felt a bit like Newport and we were wondering if a goal would come.

“We created a lot of chances, we controlled the game on a difficult pitch against a team that is unbeaten here all season. That means bodies on the line.

“I had forwards tracking back and making blocks – we defending excellently from the front and it was an excellent win, we can’t hide away from it.”

The pressure built in the second half but with some heroic defending the lead was protected – giving them a clear advantage going into the final five games of the season.

Evatt fancies his chances because of the team spirit which has grown in the camp since the turn of the year.

“I’m cool as a cucumber because I have unbelievable belief in this team,” he said.

“I know what is between us and promotion and we are going to take some stopping because their attitude is fantastic.

“Their work ethic, their togetherness, you can hear the lads in the stands cheering every block and tackle. We are really in this together.

“But this is only a big win if we get the job done. We have five really big games to go.”

The last time Bolton were due to play at Salford on February 6 - a game that was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch - the team was 19th in the table.

Now Wanderers face Grimsby Town at the weekend in the first of five remaining games with a four-point cushion on Morecambe in fourth place.

“It’s exciting isn’t it?" said Evatt. "And we’re proud and pleased to be here, but we’ve not done anything yet and we’ve got five more huge games and it’ll take that kind of effort, commitment, work rate, added with the quality that we showed first half to get us over the line.

"We’ll dust ourselves down, we’ enjoy tonight because this is a tough palace to come and we’ve worked ever so hard to get the three points, but we must recover for Saturday.”
