WANDERERS (4-2-3-1)

MATT GILKS…8 After a few errors early on the Wanderers keeper stopped this from being a freakish result with a series of top drawer stops. A quadruple save in the second half will live long in the memory.

GETHIN JONES…5.5.

Got himself into some decent crossing positions but, for once, the quality wasn’t there. A rare off day for the full-back.

RICARDO SANTOS…5.

Struggled under the physical bombardment from Hanson and was given little time to play his way into the game as he likes to do.

ALEX BAPTISTE…5.5.

Like Santos, had his hands full with John-Lewis, and came off second best as Grimsby peppered the Bolton penalty box.

DECLAN JOHN…5.

Not a day he will look back on with any fondness. The set pieces didn’t work out, the crossing and passing was not on target.

KIERAN LEE…6.

Maybe Salford took a bit more out of him than most – but Lee looked a yard off it at Blundell Park. Some classy touches until he reached the penalty box.

MJ WILLIAMS…7.

Slow start but got involved in the midfield dogfight and tried to add a measure of calm in possession too.

DAPO AFOLAYAN…5.5.

Had a decent first half but started trying to do a bit too much with the ball, losing possession in some awkward areas.

GEORGE THOMASON…6.

Was happy to take the ball under pressure and chased down the Grimsby players with enthusiasm. Needed a calmer head around the penalty box.

LLOYD ISGROVE…6.

Looked the biggest attacking threat in the first half and was a constant outlet on the right. Faded in the second half, which is perhaps understandable.

EOIN DOYLE…5.5.

Has carried the team’s goalscoring threat for the whole season… Now Wanderers really need him to start firing again.
