IAN Evatt admits the Wanderers dressing room is positively buzzing about Declan John’s return to fitness.

The Welshman has shaken off a dead leg to take his place in the squad to face Exeter City – but Evatt revealed the on-loan Swansea defender got a nasty surprise on the training ground this week.

“Declan will be involved,” Evatt said. “It’s a great problem to have now because Ben Jackson did fantastically last week, his stock has risen, and he has shown what he can do.

“But I’ll share a funny story with you – Declan’s knee had settled down and the swelling had gone on Tuesday so he was ready to train with the lads again.

“Just as he is about to put his boot on there was a huge wasp inside which stung his big toe like mad.

“His toe ended up more sore than his knee had ever been. It was so funny and really raised our spirits hearing someone swearing so much in a big Welsh accent was very funny with a wasp sticking out of the end of his big toe. It was highly amusing for everybody.

“He’s better for that now and he’s ready to go Saturday.”

Evatt said there were no new injury worries after last weekend’s win at Morecambe, which leaves his side needing just one more victory to seal a return to League One.

“Otherwise there’s a full-fit squad,” he said. “Dennis has trained with the first team again, so there’s only Liam Edwards now who is out."
