DARTS’ top stars will be back in Bolton in July.

The Premier Suite at the University of Bolton Stadium will be hosting a four-day PDC Super Series for the second time this year.

The venue welcomed back big-time darts in February having previously been the long-time home of the UK Open, the so-called ‘FA Cup of darts’.

Between July 6 and 9, home favourite Lisa Ashton will be among the players in action, challenging the likes of Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price.

Another four-day Super Series at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes from June 14 to 17 was also confirmed yesterday.

The eight one-day tournaments will be the final events to count towards qualification for the Betfred World Matchplay, with the top 16 players from the PDC Order of Merit joined by 16 qualifiers from the ProTour Order of Merit.

“We’re pleased to be able to add a further eight Players Championship events to the calendar in June and July,” said PDC chief executive Matt Porter.

“A further two PDC Super Series will mean that players have had 20 Players Championships this year in the race to the Betfred World Matchplay, with our planned return to the Winter Gardens in Blackpool being a huge incentive for players battling to win a place in that unique event.”
