Wanderers’ promotion bid will go down to the final day after their 2-1 defeat against Exeter.

Gethin Jones put Wanderers in front in the first half but things went south in the second, Randell Williams scoring shortly after the interval before Pierce Sweeney popped up with the winner deep into stoppage time to keep up the Grecians’ play-off push.

See how we rated the players on a disappointing day for the Whites.

Matt Gilks 6

Didn’t have loads to do on the day. Produced a sharp save from Taylor on the half hour and didn’t have a chance with either goal.

Gethin Jones 7

Mixed bag from the right back. Some poor delivery and distribution but produced a fine finish for the goal and blocked well from Williams late on having perhaps given him too much space for the equaliser.

Ricardo Santos 6

Good block from Matt Jay early on left him hobbling but managed to battle back. Headed over the bar in the first half as search for first goal goes on.

Alex Baptiste 6

Not the easiest afternoon for the Wanderers centre halves with Exeter breaking in behind on more than one occasion. Did produce one big diving block late on.

Declan John 7

A real outlet in the first half with some teasing deliveries and a free-kick saved. Had far less of an impact after the break, like so many of his team-mates.

MJ Williams 6.5

Often in the right place at the right time, producing one important challenge to deny Taylor in the first half. Booked for a heavy-duty tackle.

Kieran Lee 6

Some nice touches and was tidy in possession but didn’t influence the game and drive Wanderers on.

Antoni Sarcevic 5.5

Key touch for the opening goal but skipper was on the fringes of the game on his return to the starting line-up. Subbed on the hour as he tired.

Lloyd Isgrove 6.5

Always available and saw plenty of half chances come to nothing, one shot across the face of goal at the start of second half a particular danger. Final pass lacking.

Dapo Afolayan 6

A real threat down the left in the first half but faded badly in the second. Seemed to be playing in second gear after the interval having caused all sorts of problems early doors.

Eoin Doyle 6

A frustrating day for the 18-goal top scorer. Put in the hard yards for the opening goal but sent one header over and saw other efforts blocked.

Substitutes

George Thomason (for Sarcevic 61) 5.5

Didn’t happen for the youngster. A couple of interceptions nearly set off counter-attacks but was poor in possession, giving the ball away too often.

Arthur Gnahoua (for Isgrove 61) 5

Little impact for the final half an hour and sliced wide of the mark late on when things opened up for him on the edge of the box.

Nathan Delfouneso (for Lee 74),  Shaun Miller (for Afolayan 85)

Not used: Jensen, Jackson, Tutte.
