The hosts posted 226 batting first with three wickets apiece for professional Janith Liyanage and skipper Will Halton.

Egerton then kept themselves in the hunt with their reply before ultimately coming up short, Liyanage completing a strong all round day with 41 as Mubashir Hasson top scored with 81 to give his side hope.

In Premier 2, Edgworth defeated Bradshaw by five wickets to move ahead of their local rivals into second spot in the table after nine weeks of the campaign.

The home side were all out for 149 batting first, Bradley Yates top scoring with 45 as Umega Chathuranga took 4-56.

Alistair Dickson then hit a better-than-a-run-a-ball 79 not out at the top of the order to see his side over the line for a big win.

Championship action saw Heaton pile on the runs in a convincing 216-run win against Whalley Range.

Joe Ball 71, Tilaksha Malshan, 69, Oliver Sutcliffe, 62 not out, and Luca Williams-Denton, 52 not out, shared the runs around in a total of 298-3 batting first.

Muhammad Irfan then took 4-34 with three wickets for Malshan and Amal Dalugoda as Whalley Range were skittled out for just 82 in reply.

Adlington jumped above opponents Austerlands in the Division One table after narrowly defending 172 in a 14-run victory.

Deane and Derby edged to a narrow one-wicket win at Elton 2s in Division 2A, chasing down 161 for victory after Salim Patel had taken 5-33 in the first innings of the game.

It was a tough afternoon for Daisy Hill who lost by 107 runs at Worsley, dismissed for 100.

In Division 3W, Bolton Indians were four wicket-winners at Heaton 2s, reaching 226-6 to seal their victory.

Dipesh Patel finished unbeaten on 65 after Anish Patel had set up the chase for 5-45.
