WANDERERS have completed their second signing of the day with the arrival of former Coventry striker Amadou Bakayoko.

The frontman, who spent the last three years with the Sky Blues and made 14 appearances in the Championship last season, has signed a two-year deal at the University of Bolton Stadium.

The 25-year-old follows ex-Barrow goalkeeper Joel Dixon through the arrivals door today as Ian Evatt’s squad continues to take shape ahead of life in League One.

“It’s a good feeling to be at this club and I’m very happy to have signed,” Bakayoko said.

“Speaking to the gaffer, he told me about the ambition of the club and where they want to be at, and this is something that I want to be a part of.

”I am now looking to push on with this amazing club.”

The 6ft 2in tall striker, known for his hard-working and physical style, was born in Sierra Leone before moving to the Netherlands as a youngster.

He came to the UK as a teenager and joined the Walsall Academy where he progressed to the Saddlers’ first team.

Bakayoko then had loan spells with Southport,  AFC Telford United and Worcester City before joining Coventry in 2018, scoring against the Whites in a 2-1 Sky Blues win in February 2020.

Evatt said: “Baka played in the Championship with Coventry City last season and is a tall centre forward who is quick, strong and will give us a different dynamic and option in the forward areas of the pitch.

“He’s a really hard worker in and out of possession - something that is a non-negotiable for me and our team - and we are really excited to have him.”
