Former Wanderers striker Shaun Miller featured for Nantwich Town in their friendly defeat against Altrincham last night.

Miller also played against Whitchurch Alport at the weekend, and has been without a club since being released by the Whites this summer.

At this stage, it is unclear whether the 33-year-old will be playing for the Dabbers next season or if he is building up fitness.

The forward arrived at the UniBol in September 2020 and went on to make 24 appearances for Wanderers, scoring four times.

He was one of 10 players released at the end of last season, and boss Ian Evatt admitted it was a tough decision to make.

“Shaun was probably my hardest decision of the summer,” said the Bolton boss at the time.

"That was a real difficult one because he’s been fantastic for us and scored some important goals to get us some valuable points.

"He’s a great lad as well and he was a big part of the dressing room, but I just feel moving forwards in a higher division we need something different to Eoin (Doyle).

"Shaun and Eoin are quite similar in many ways, similar age, the way they play is quite similar, goalscorers. I think we need someone that gives us a different dimension to what Eoin gives us.

"He gives us a lot so it’s a difficult position to find, especially number nines, there aren’t many around. But obviously we’re looking for someone who is a bit more physical, a bit quicker and who can stretch the back line and give us a plan B if we need it.”
