WANDERERS winger Xavier Amaechi has revealed on social media that he has had successful surgery to repair a fractured metatarsal.
Amaechi arrived at the UniBol on loan from Hamburg this summer, but limped off during last week’s 1-0 win over Preston North End.
The 20-year-old – who came trough the ranks at Arsenal – revealed on his Instagram account that the surgery was a success.
The winger now faces several weeks on the sidelines.
It isn't the first time the Whites have lost a winger to injury in pre-season, with Dennis Politic tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in a friendly at Loughborough University last summer.
After Tuesday’s 1-0 win at Chorley, Wanderers boss Ian Evatt revealed that Amaechi’s injury could force him to change his plans in the transfer market before the end of the window.
Asked if he will now look to bring another right-sided attacker in, he added: “Possibly, we are obviously one light now in that position and we may be a tad light there anyway, so we’re looking but we’re not going to rush into things. We have to make sure it’s right.”
