WANDERERS goalkeeper Luke Hutchinson has high hopes for the upcoming season after joining Atherton Colls on loan.

The 18-year-old goalkeeper – who featured in pre-season for the Whites – headed to Colls in search of regular playing time as he continues his development.

Hutchinson made his debut for the non-league side against Liversedge over the weekend, and says he is enjoying the challenge of men’s football.

Speaking after the game, he told the club's YouTube channel: “Training is good and I really enjoyed the game today. It’s a good group of lads.

“It was a tough game. The physicality was high - higher than what I’m used to playing youth team football, but that’s what I need.

“I had to come out for lots of balls into the box, so it’s only going to help me develop in the long term.”

Hutchinson - who played in the pre-season friendlies against Colls and Chorley - is highly thought of at Wanderers.

The young goalkeeper wants to make an immediate impact in the Norther Premier League.

“That’s what I’m here to do, help the team,” he added. “The gaffer (Brad Cooke) has been really good with me and I’m enjoying it.

“I want to help the team game-by-game. Hopefully, we can go up the league and do well. It’s all about the three points at the end of the day so if I can help the team, that’s my main goal.

“I can’t speak highly enough of Bolton and the fans, helping me throughout the ages and to get this loan.”

Colls kick off their league campaign with a trip to Hyde United on Saturday afternoon, and Hutchinson is looking forward to the game.

He said: “I’m expecting a tough battle to be fair. It’s obviously on astro turf, which is different again. But if we can put in the same effort we showed (against Liversedge), we can hopefully get the win.”
