WANDERERS are back in League One action as they head to Plough Lane to take on AFC Wimbledon on Saturday afternoon (KO 3pm).

Ian Evatt’s men enter the game on the back of a thrilling win over Championship side Barnsley on penalties in the opening round of the Carabao Cup.

The Whites are searching for their first win back in the third tier following their 3-3 draw against MK Dons on the opening day.

Team news

Declan John is available for Wanderers after missing Tuesday night’s cup clash against Barnsley with a minor knock. Summer signing Will Aimson remains sidelined with a groin injury.

The hosts have no fresh injury concerns.

Opposition lowdown

Mark Robinson guided Wimbledon to a 19th-place finish in League One last term, finishing four points above the drop zone.

The Dons have started the new season strongly, beating Doncaster Rovers and Charlton Athletic over the past week.

However, losing prolific striker Joe Pigott over the summer was a blow for the London club.

Head-to-head

  • Wanderers have only faced Wimbledon four times, with a record of one win and three draws
  • The Whites’ only win in the fixture came in August 2016, with Gary Madine and Liam Trotter on target in a 2-1 victory on the road

Last meeting

The points were shared when the sides last met following a goalless draw at Kingsmeadow in March 2020.

Ali Crawford went closest for the Whites, while Kwesi Appiah had a Dons goal ruled out for offside in the second half.

It was one of the final games before the 2019/20 League One campaign was cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic.
