THE extra 700 tickets for Wanderers’ Carabao Cup clash at Wigan have sold out in a matter of minutes.
Ian Evatt’s men will now be backed by 4,700 fans for the second round tie at the DW Stadium on Tuesday night.
After the initial allocation was taken, it took less than 10 minutes for the further 700 made available to be snapped up after they went on sale at 11am on Friday morning.
Wanderers said on social media: “Within mere minutes, our second allocation for the Carabao Cup second round clash against Wigan has, again, sold out.
“Our fans amaze us every single day. What a following it is going to be!”
The Whites reached this stage following a thrilling win over Championship side Barnsley on penalties at the UniBol.
Speaking at his pre-Oxford press conference on Thursday, Evatt said of the rush for Wigan tickets: “I believe that it’s a sell-out in our end at Wigan.
“We have magnificent support and fanbase. When they travel in their numbers like they did on Tuesday (at Lincoln) and they see a performance like that, it really brings home what this club is all about really.
“We’ve got a great bond now with our fans. The fans are proud of us and long may that continue.”
