ALI Crawford has completed his loan move to St Johnstone from Wanderers, paving the way for Ian Evatt to bring in fresh blood on deadline day.

The Scottish midfielder will play at McDiarmid Park until January when there is an option to extend the deal until the end of the season.

Crawford has not featured at all for Bolton since January and spent a few months on loan at Tranmere Rovers last term.

The 30-year-old is looking forward to kickstarting his career north of the border, where he previously enjoyed success with Hamilton Academicals.

And he will be doing it at a club which is enjoying unprecedented success, having lifted both the Scottish Cup and League Cup in 2021 to qualify for Europe.

"This is a great opportunity for me and I thank St Johnstone for getting this deal done,” he said.

"St Johnstone had an unbelievable 20/21 season and to do a cup double was just brilliant.

"It's now up to me to show what I've got. There is strong competition for places, and I know I'm going to have to be at a high level to get into the side.

"But every football club needs a strong squad, and it will be good to have everyone pushing each other on for the benefit of the football club."

Evatt says Wanderers are now in the hunt for “one bit of quality” which would take them to 10 signings in the current transfer window.

Since the summer the Whites have brought in George Johnston, Amadou Bakayoko, Declan John, Will Aimson, Dapo Afolayan, Josh Sheehan, Joel Dixon, Elias Kachunga and Xav Amaechi.

Asked how he saw transfer deadline day unfolding, the Bolton boss said: “I am hoping I won’t be too busy, to be honest.

“I think we have got our ducks in a row, I think we know what it happening.

“It is just whether we can bring in the one bit of quality we have highlighted and we’re working really hard to do that. We’ll see.”

Speaking yesterday, Evatt saw Crawford’s exit as the only one likely to be confirmed today – but Brandon Comley is also understood to be available.

“I think at the moment only one looks like they are definitely going out but obviously there are other players available and if clubs miss out on their targets and our players are second or third on those lists, you never know,” he added.
