WANDERERS are back in League One action on Saturday afternoon as they head south to take on Ipswich Town.

Ian Evatt’s men enter the game on the back of a 0-0 draw against Burton Albion at the UniBol on Monday night.

Marc Iles caught up with Ross Halls from the East Anglian Daily Times to get the lowdown on the Tractor Boys.

Ipswich have had a tough start to the season. Is it a good time to play them?

Yes and no really. We are lucky we haven’t had to play in two weeks because of the international break. But we haven’t won a game yet this season.

The bookies were saying we would run away with the league because of all our signings over the summer, but so far it’s not gone to plan. It might be a good time to play us, but it is also a chance for Ipswich to get that first win.

And what is behind their poor start to the campaign?

It has been mistakes at the back. The goalkeeper, Vaclav Hladky, he kept 22 clean sheets for Salford City and we thought, ‘what a signing’. I still think there is a good goalkeeper in there but perhaps the pressure is getting to him.

We also signed Christian Walton on loan form Brighton. He has played under Paul Cook before at Wigan. He is likely to come in on Saturday and hopefully that will shore up the defence a bit.

Ipswich made 19 signings this summer. Does the squad need time to gel?

Last season, when Paul Cook came in we were hoping maybe he could gey us promoted or into the play-offs, but it didn’t work out and he didn’t seem to like the players. I hate the phrase, ‘they are playing like strangers’ but in the opening games there hasn’t been chemistry, their passing has not been flowing.

I think that is one of the big worries at the moment, but they have had two weeks on the training ground now to get to know each other and bond. Hopefully, against Bolton it will finally click.

Which players do Wanderers need to look out for on Saturday?

Macauley Bonne – he bleeds blue. He is playing for his boyhood club and has scored four goals already. He has won club’s player of the month and goal of the month awards, so he is on cloud nine.

He missed out in the last game with an injury, but he is definitely one to look out for if he does start because he brings that extra 10 percent when he plays. Rekeem Harper has really impressed me since joining from West Brom. Cole Edwards is a very tricky winger, look out for him.

And finally, what is your score prediction?

I can’t see Ipswich getting their first win of the season, so I am going for a 1-1 draw. It is going to be a tight affair.
