WANDERERS (4-2-3-1)

JOE DIXON…7.

Didn’t have to do anything spectacular but deserves credit for some of the attacks he is helping to launch from deep. His eye for a quick ball, or a good angle for defenders is important.

GETHIN JONES…7.5.

Makes himself available as much as anyone in a Bolton shirt, and the stats show the team relies on that right wing too. Great assist for Afolayan’s second goal.

RICARDO SANTOS…7.

You can scrub the own goal off – Santos defended calmly, even if Bonne caused a few headaches. He is even popping up on the right flank now!

GEORGE JOHNSTON…7.5.

Finished his goal off nicely and probably put in the best defensive performance in Evatt’s back four on the day.

LIAM GORDON…7.

Make no bones about it, Burns’ early involvement made this look like it was going to be a long day for Gordon. He improved and grew in confidence as the game wore on and created the equaliser.

MJ WILLIAMS…7.

A typically inglorious afternoon for the former Liverpool man, who just knits things together and makes sure possession is retained.

JOSH SHEEHAN…8.

Classy stuff from the Wales international on his return from duty. Took the goal well and always looked to get on the ball and make something happen.

LLOYD ISGROVE…7.

Worked well with Jones up until being swapped with Kachunga. Should have scored one early on when he was played through on goal.

ANTONI SARCEVIC…7.

Composure to create the fourth goal and always looked to thread that final pass through. He desperately wanted in on the goal party.

DAPO AFOLAYAN…9.

Two goals, one birthday hat. Absolutely purring right now and, crucially, still doing the ugly, laborious defensive stuff which makes him so popular with the fans.

EOIN DOYLE…8.5.

Scored a penalty, might have got another with a snap volley – but a moment to acknowledge the work-rate. Never gave Ipswich’s defenders a second of peace.

Subs: Kachunga 62 (for Isgrove), Lee 74 (for Sheehan), Baptiste 81 (for Johnston).

Not used: Gilks, Delfouneso, Aimson, Thomason.

Ipswich Town (4-2-3-1): Walton; Vincent-Young, Edmundson, Burgess, Coulson; Harper, Evans; Burns, Chaplin, Aluko; Bonne.

Subs: Donacien 21 (for Vincent-Young), Carroll 63 (for Chaplin), Jackson 84 (for Burns).

Not used: Holy, Penney, Piggott, Barry.

Referee – Robert Madley 7/10 – Wanderers had complaints about the challenge Wes Burns made on Liam Gordon on the opening goal. The rest of the game flowed well and he got the penalty decision spot on, so to speak.
