Rotherham United boss Paul Warne is expecting a tough game against Wanderers at the UniBol on Saturday afternoon.

Warne – who joined the Millers in 2017 - has been impressed with the Whites so far this season and insists they made shrewd signings in the transfer window.

Ian Evatt’s men are third in the league table, having picked up 12 points from their opening seven matches following Saturday’s stunning 5-2 win at Ipswich Town.

"Bolton's history is there for everyone to read but they've come back and they're a big club in this league,” Warne told the club’s website.

"I don't think anyone has underestimated them in football and they've made some good signings in the summer again.

"I think the top teams in League Two always do well when they get promoted. The step up from League Two to League One isn't the same as the other two steps I don't think.

"They've started off really confidently and they have a style of play that he's recruited well for."

The Millers – who sit in 13th place in the table - enter the match on the back of a 1-1 draw at Lincoln City on Tuesday night.

Warne admits the result was frustrating but insists there were plenty of positives from his side’s performance.

"I thought we were excellent and there were some really good displays,” he added. “We had their goal under siege and I think we had something like 26 attempts.

"I don't think we can do a lot more without scoring a second goal and winning it really.

"It was one of those days where you don't get what you deserve, however, we'll probably win games that we don't deserve to so it will hopefully level itself out.

"I think we all came away from it feeling good about ourselves but also disappointed that it felt like two points dropped."
