WANDERERS (4-2-3-1).

JOEL DIXON…6.5.

Didn’t have a chance with either goal, in truth, and only forced into one save from distance. His kicking was a big positive, though, and helped to pick through the Rotherham press.

GETHIN JONES…6.

Will kick himself for not finishing off the couple of decent chances that fell his way but showed a willingness to step forward and join in midfield without compromising defensively.

RICARDO SANTOS…5.5.

Was under pressure as Wanderers’ chief aerial threat to take care of those set pieces but didn’t have a comfortable afternoon. Better on the ball second half.

GEORGE JOHNSTON…6.5.

Defended well enough against the tormenting Grigg and saw loads of the ball. Should learn a lot from this type of afternoon.

LIAM GORDON…5.5.

Worked hard up and down the left but Rotherham did gain some territorial advantage behind him. Never looked entirely comfortable.

MJ WILLIAMS…7.5.

Didn’t really miss a step. Hardly wasted a pass, covered well on both sides and pressed at the right time too. Looks to be enjoying his football.

JOSH SHEEHAN…7.

Such a watchable player at the moment. Inexplicably booked – but his eye for a pass gives Bolton an extra dimension. Should he have added a goal to all that? Probably.

LLOYD ISGROVE…6.5.

If you could bottle his work-rate, which continued to the bitter end, then Wanderers would be a rich club indeed. A nearly but not quite day for him.

ANTONI SARCEVIC…6.

A bit like Isgrove – the intent was there, the effort was there, but it just didn’t come off. A couple of moments where the clarity of thought wasn’t quite there.

DAPO AFOLAYAN…6.

Kicked off the park in the last hour. Struggled to get into the game for long spells but it is a sign of his growing reputation that Rotherham stuck so close.

EOIN DOYLE…5.5.

Linked up well but he won’t need reminding that the one big chance should have made the net bulge. Like all good strikers, he’ll be back in the same place next weekend.

Subs: Lee 71 (for Sheehan), Kachunga 76 (for Sarcevic).

Not used: Gilks, Delfouneso, Aimson, Thomason, Baptiste.

Rotherham (3-5-2): Johansson; Edmonds-Green, Wood, Mattock; Ogbene, Wiles, Barlaser, Rathbone, Bola; Grigg, Smith.

Subs: Harding 46 (for Ogbene), Lindsay 60 (for Barlaser), Sadlier 78 (for Grigg).

Not used: Vickers, Ihiekwe, Odoffin, Kayode.

Referee: James Bell 5/10 - Reluctant to crack down on the time-wasting, not to mention the strange yellow card shown to Josh Sheehan for trying to take a quick free kick. Needed eyes in the back of his head at times with Will Grigg about… But let’s chalk it up to inexperience.
