WANDERERS have been dealt some bad news on the injury front on the eve of their home clash with Wigan Athletic.

Gethin Jones – already suspended for the game – could be out of action for a longer spell after damaging his ankle in training.

Ian Evatt has also revealed a couple of other un-named players could also miss Saturday’s game after picking up injuries in the last few games.

Harry Brockbank is likely to step in for Jones, who was with the specialist as Evatt took his afternoon press conference.

“He has got a bit of a sore ankle, he is having an MRI scan today so we will know more soon. Potentially he could be out longer,” he added.

“It does give someone else an opportunity so they have to step up to the plate.

“That is what football is all about and what I have been speaking about a lot.

“We have talked many times about the lads out of the team and how they have to keep themselves switched on and ready to play because an opportunity can be always around the corner.

“And there will be an opportunity for someone this Saturday and let’s hope that they take it.”

Evatt also revealed there could be other missing names on the team-sheet but insists he has options within the squad to cover.

“We have had a rough week to be honest. We have picked up one or two injuries in training, but it is just one of those things. It is football and we have to adapt and overcome.”
