WANDERERS (4-3-3)

JOEL DIXON…6.

Left Wanderers a bit exposed with his kicking choice before the break, leading up to the equalising goal. But did make one great reaction save to deny Madden.

LLOYD ISGROVE…6.5.

Ever-willing to push forward and supplied an inch-perfect cross for Doyle’s goal in the first half. The forward momentum dried up after the interval, though.

RICARDO SANTOS…5.5.

Performances have been a little bit flat since he took the captain’s armband. Improved defensively as the game went on but needed to use the ball more effectively.

ALEX BAPTISTE…5.5.

Poor for the second goal. Like Santos, had to take the game by the scruff of the neck and step out with the ball more often. The visitors had it too comfortable.

DECLAN JOHN…5.

Struggled with his breathing, leading to a half-time substitution. Looked off-colour in the first half and not as energetic as usual.

KIERAN LEE…6.5.

Linked things up really well early on after replacing the injured Josh Sheehan in midfield but retreated into his shell later on.

MJ WILLIAMS…7.

Reverted to type after what had been a dynamic 45 minutes where he seemed to win the ball and got himself forward at every opportunity.

GEORGE THOMASON…6.5.

Made a horrendous mistake for Stockport’s first goal – but showed plenty of character after that, looking for possession when he could have gone hiding.

ELIAS KACHUNGA…6.5.

Grabbed that elusive goal and linked up well with Isgrove down the right flank, even though his effectiveness faded. Hopefully a sign of things to come.

EOIN DOYLE…7.

Finished off one great move and missed a couple of decent chances in the second period. Getting himself involved in the right areas now.

DAPO AFOLAYAN…8.

Looks a genuine threat every time he gets the ball at the moment and can coast past players with those quick feet. Are Wanderers over-reliant, though?

Subs: Gordon 5.5 46 (for John) – Struggled to get beyond a deep-lying defence.

Delfouneso 5, 69 (for Thomason) – Pretty ineffective.

Not used: Gilks, Johnston, Aimson, Edwards, Henry, Pettifer.

STOCKPORT COUNTY (4-2-3-1): Ross; Minihan, Hogan, Palmer, Kitching; Rooney, Croadsale; Crankshaw, Madden, Whitfield; Quigley.

Referee: Tom Neild – 8/10. Neither side had much room for complaint about the official’s performance and he kept the fussiness to a bare minimum.
