IAN Evatt has made three changes to his Wanderers side for this afternoon’s game at Wycombe Wanderers.

MJ Williams returns to the midfielder after a bout of illness which kept him out of the midweek FA Cup first round exit at Stockport County.

He replaces Josh Sheehan, who suffered a knee injury on Wednesday night and is not present in the squad.

Will Aimson returns to the defence in place of George Johnston, who drops to the bench.

And Alex Baptiste also comes into the team for Amadou Bakayoko – who was another big injury doubt for the game having limped off at Edgeley Park in the second half.

That is likely to mean Wanderers will switch to a back three, with Baptiste and Aimson playing either side of captain Ricardo Almeida Santos. Lloyd Isgrove and Declan John will be the two wing-backs.

In midfield, Williams and George Thomason will occupy the central role with Dapo Afolayan and Kieran Lee likely to play wider on the right and left.

That would leave Elias Kachunga as the central striker – although Evatt may choose to revert to the 3-4-1-2 system he preferred at the start of his spell in charge at Bolton, playing Afolayan up alongside Kachunga, and Lee in behind.

Wycombe make five changes from their defeat against Hartlepool in the cup with Tafazoli, Wheeler, Kaikai, Mahmeti and McCarthy returning to the side.

Joe Jacobson is dropped and influential winger Garath McCleary returns for the Chairboys on the bench.

Bolton Wanderers (3-4-1-2): Dixon; Baptiste, Santos, Aimson; Isgrove, Williams, Thomason, John; Lee; Kachunga, Afolayan.

Subs: Gilks, Johnston, Delfouneso, Amaechi, Gordon, Henry, Pettifer.
