WANDERERS (3-4-3).

JOEL DIXON…7.

Came up with an important save in the second half when Wanderers really needed it. Distribution was good, too.

ALEX BAPTISTE…6.

Was very comfortable until switched to right-back, when Fleetwood’s pacier wide players began to cause him problems.

WILL AIMSON…7.5.

Tidy in a defensive sense and used the ball well in the first hour too. Starting to look a very accomplished signing for the Whites.

GEORGE JOHNSTON…6.

Made some important blocks and clearances towards the end – but also beaten a little easily at times around the penalty box.

LIAM GORDON…6.

Not quite the rampaging wing-back we saw in the last couple of games but kept going to the end to see his side through.

KIERAN LEE…6.5.

Took his goal well and has a habit of knowing where his team needs him to play, whether that be dropping deep, or bursting into the box.

GEORGE THOMASON…6.5.

Ran the game in the first hour or so but couldn’t quite pick through a stubborn defence in the same way he did against Cheltenham.

DECLAN JOHN…6.5.

Provided some exciting moments early on as he ran at Fleetwood defenders. Impact lessened as the game went on and opposing full-backs came into the game.

DAPO AFOLAYAN…6.

Hit a couple of perfect passes and had one pot shot at Billy Crellin’s goal but not his most impactful 90 minutes.

EOIN DOYLE…6.

Quite a quiet night for the stand-in skipper. Made the goal well for Kieran Lee but found himself swamped by defenders for the most part.

XAVIER AMAECHI…6.

Like Doyle and Afolayan, just got suffocated by Fleetwood’s low defensive block. Will need more work on the training ground on how to make 3-4-3 more effective.

Subs: Pettifer 6, 69 (for Lee) – Got himself involved.

Kachunga 6, 69 (for Doyle) – A couple of decent late runs.

Delfouneso 5.5, 69 (for John) – Didn’t really get into the game.

Tweedley 83 (for Afolayan).

Henry 83 (for Amaechi).

Not used: Gilks.

Fleetwood: Crellin; Bird, McLaughlin, Johnson, Clark; Baggley, Biggins, Boyle; Edmondson, McMillan, Hayes Subs: Teale 46 (for McLaughlin), Conn-Clarke 60 (for McMillian), Raffie 75 (for Biggins) Not used: Rees, Thompson, Edwards, Batch.

Attendance: 1,733.

Referee: Benjamin Speedie 7/10 – Won’t manage many easier games this season. Produced a couple of yellow cards but didn’t have to make terribly many tough calls.
