SHARPLES Wrestling Club are celebrating after Mostaffa Fatahiniya picked up a silver medal at the British Wrestling Senior Championships.

Held at the YMCA, Deansgate in Manchester over weekend, Mostaffa came second out of 33 competitors in the 86kilo weight category.

What made the feat more impressive was the fact that Mostaffa stepped up from his usual79k category to enter the Olympic weight of 86kilo - giving away more 6kgs to his competitors.

Mostaffa wrestled superbly showing his technical class on the way to the final. As usual, he left everything on the mat and thoroughly deserved his silver medal.

Head coach Eddy Kavanagh said: “Mostaffa showed tremendous determination and great technique to come away with a silver medal in a much higher weight category.

“Mostaffa who also helps the club coach team giving back to the sport and club - is a great role model for our younger wrestlers showing what is required when you step on to the mat.”
