YOUNG swimmers from Canon Slade shone at the Olympic pool in London recently.
The school’s senior boys - Zach Walmsley, Giles Prest-Briggs, Jake Reynolds, Dan Gregory and Sam Murphy - competed in the English Schools’ National Relay Finals at the pool in Stratford.
It is the third time the team has attended the finals, and this year they were one of only two schools that represented the North West region, competing against some high-flying independent schools whose swimmers are regularly chosen to train with the Olympic squads.
They finished 15th in the medley relay and 13th in the freestyle relay.
PE staff Ross Dickinson and Gill Kimblin were proud of the boys.
Mr Dickinson said: “This is an amazing achievement, specifically placing 15th in the medley relay and 13th in the freestyle relay.
“We are immensely proud of the students who have represented the school impeccably over the years and we wish them all the luck in the future.”
