WANDERERS (3-4-3).

JOEL DIXON…5.

Had some predictable issues with kicking but came up with one big save in the first half which, at the time, looked an important one.

WILL AIMSON…5.

Of all the defensive players, the only one whose performance leaned into ‘average’. At least tried to launch a few attacks from the back.

RICARDO SANTOS…4.

Red card aside, this was a bad night for the Bolton skipper, who found himself the wrong side of Fleetwood’s front men on too many occasions. Sloppy.

GEORGE JOHNSTON…4.5.

Did flick one decent effort at goal in the first half but defensively did not get close enough and once again looked to struggle under any degree of physicality.

LIAM GORDON…4.

From the first goal onward Gordon looked over-run on Bolton’s right side, with Andrew, Lane and Morton having free reign.

KIERAN LEE…3.5.

Had virtually no effect on the game, other than the occasional misplaced pass. Much, much better than this.

GEORGE THOMASON…5.5.

Put a few shots on goal and at least left some sort of mark on Fleetwood, even if he was never in control of the midfield.

DECLAN JOHN…3.5.

Another one who let his standards slip significantly. Set pieces were poor and carried very little threat when he got on the ball.

ELIAS KACHUNGA…4.

Barring a couple of flicks on halfway, there was nothing to suggest Kachunga was a player in form. Gave Fleetwood’s defenders a very easy time of it.

EOIN DOYLE…3.5.

Discounting a disallowed goal, he touched the ball 15 times and only once in the Fleetwood penalty box. Starved of service, perhaps, but also looked off the pace.

DAPO AFOLAYAN….4.

Has chosen a bad time to have a dip in form. Brightened up for about 10 minutes of the second half – but Bolton need more from him.

Subs: Amaechi 3.5, 67 (for Aimson) – Five touches of the ball in 23 minutes.

Baptiste 74 (for Doyle) – Game was gone by the time he arrived.

Not used: Gilks, Delfouneso, Tweedley, Conway, Pettifer.

Fleetwood (4-3-3): Cairns, Johnston, Clarke, McLaughlin, Andrew; Biggins, Matete, Lane; Hayes, Garner, Morton.

Subs: Johnston 67 (for Hayes), Boyle 90 (for Matete), Baggley 90 (for Lane) Not used: Crellin, Morris, Clark, Conn-Clarke.

Referee: Seb Stocksbridge 5/10.

A dreadful game to referee, so some allowances had to be made. No complaints over the red card for Santos but Fleetwood would feel a couple of good penalty shouts were turned down.

Attendance: 3,279 (1,1100)
