TWO Lostock AC members put in good performances on the gruelling Tour de Helvellyn.
The race covers 37 miles and more than 7,000 feet of climbing on the tough terrain of Helvellyn but it was no match for Josie Greenhalgh and Mark Sammon.
In arguably the best conditions the race has probably ever seen, Greenhalgh kept up an incredible pace finishing in 8hrs 37mins with Sammon crossing the line in a commendable 10:56:00.
On a busy weekend for Lostockers, Mark Shuttleworth and Andy Laycock tackled the cross-country at Heaton Park with Shuttleworth finishing eighth V50 in 47:56 and Laycock on his tail in 48:33.
Meanwhile, in Bolton, not only did Suleman Badat and Sheila Garewal hold up the Lostock AC contingent at Bolton parkrun but Badat went on to finish first overall in an amazing 19:21 with Garewal coming home in in 31:18.
The weekend also saw one of the highlights of the Lostock running calendar - the annual mince pie run - and in the winter sunshine lots of runners enjoyed the festive fun.
