WANDERERS will move for Manchester City whiz kid James Trafford to solve their goalkeeping issues.

The Bolton News understands that the England youth international is at the top of a list of names drawn up for potential loan moves this month.

Ian Evatt wants a young, hungry keeper to challenge Joel Dixon for the number one shirt at the UniBol and has allowed Matt Gilks to step back and resume coaching duties.

Trafford fits the bill and after spending the first half of the season on loan at Accrington, the 19-year-old is set to be recalled this month and sent out elsewhere.

Wanderers have looked at other options, including former keeper Jake Turner, who has been on loan at Colchester United from Newcastle United.

But Trafford looks the most likely signing at this stage and he could even seal the move before Saturday’s home game against Ipswich Town.

Although he started the season as first choice at Stanley, Trafford has recently dropped behind Toby Savin in John Coleman’s reckoning. His last game for the club was a 4-0 defeat against Burton in November.

City want Trafford to be playing regularly and are now willing to cut short his loan to let him spend the last few months of the season with the Whites.
