BOLTON Harriers Will Tomlinson and Heather Brown may have set a date for their forthcoming spring wedding but that does not stop the runners continuing to compete.

The couple, following in the footsteps of fellow Harriers Josh Sabery and Rebecca Kay who got hitched last year, are naturally busy making arrangements for their big day in Cheshire in April.

Tomlinson has even taken up sewing but is drawing the line at making the bride and bridesmaids’ dresses! Maybe Brown is drawing the line on that one though!

Despite the countdown beginning, the pair are still finding time to train with Dave Shaw and take part in races and last weekend they made the short journey across Lancashire for the Garstang 10k on Sunday.

Both are in excellent form and have had numerous podium finishes in the last few months - and that trend continued.

Brown was first female and 13th overall with an excellent personal-best of 38mins 57secs and partner Tomlinson was fourth overall (only seven seconds away from a top-three finish) in a super time of 34:43.

Brown said after the race: “It was the first race of the year and a new 10k PB.

“I wanted to break 39 minutes on that course so I am pleased with the result and feel I have made a good step forward.

“It was a great run and a fabulous scenic route - just a little lumpy in our coach Dave Shaw’s words!

“It is onwards and upwards now for 2022.”
