WANDERERS have allowed defender Adam Senior to join Conference North side Chorley on loan for the rest of the season.

The 20-year-old has featured twice this season after being recalled from a spell with York City in December to help with the club’s injury problems.

Senior, who has also spent time with Ashton United this season, has since fallen down the pecking order after the arrival of Marlon Fossey and the return to fitness of Gethin Jones.

Ian Evatt reckons playing down the road for the Magpies, who currently stand fifth in the table, comes at a good time for the Bolton-born full-back.

“It’s a local club we know well with a manager I know well and we can keep a close eye on him,” he said.

“Adam needs to continue his development by playing regular first-team football and it’s a good move for all parties.”

Senior could make his debut against third-placed AFC Fylde tonight at Victory Park (7.45pm kick off).

He already has happy memories on the ground, having scored a winner there for Wanderers in pre-season Senior played for Wanderers just a couple of days after being recalled in December, making his second league start for the club in the 1-0 defeat at Accrington.

Speaking at the time, he admits the season has been somewhat of a rollercoaster ride.

“It has been a bit mad but what I needed,” he said. “I went to Ashton to get fit because I haven’t played properly for two years now. I enjoyed it there.

“York was good but interesting because the team shouldn’t be where it is and the fans are not happy, so it was good to learn there.

“Last season I didn’t play, but this year I think I have learned a lot with my experiences at both clubs on loan.

“With the injuries I knew there could be a good opportunity (at Bolton). It’s the luck you need in football.

“I was happy to be called back and when the gaffer told me I was buzzing to be playing. It is just what I want, supporting Bolton.

“I suppose it is just the ins and outs of non-league. At York the fans are not happy, which is understandable, so I have learned how to play and deal with that. It has been good for me.”

Asked whether he would be heading back out on loan this year, he added: “I am not sure how it works now for me because I have played for three clubs.

“But time last week when I was playing at Guiseley away, I didn’t think I’d be playing in front of thousands of Bolton fans at Accrington in League One.

“Football changes so quickly so you have to see what happens. I played under Keith Hill at centre half – now I’m a right back. I have enjoyed it.”
