HORWICH RMI are through to the regional quarter-finals of the ECB National Indoor Cup after victory over Ockbrook and Borrowash Cricket Club from Derbyshire on Sunday.

Representing Lancashire after retaining their Anthony Axford Indoor Trophy in the Bolton Cricket League, Horwich won the toss and put their opponents in to bat first.

Ockbrook and Borrowash got off to a reasonable start, scoring steadily with Gary Young the top scorer with 31 and Chris Birchman hitting 21.

But the wheels fell off with some accurate bowling and good catching.

Tom Billington took 2-9 off two overs for Horwich as Ockbrook and Borrowash were all out for 90 in the 11th over.

A fine opening partnership between Jack Berry and Josh Little who both retired having reached 25, set Horwich on their way to a comfortable reply.

They reached the target score in the 10th over for the loss of just three wickets.

Berry returned at the fall of the third wicket to increase his total to 31 not out.

The victory sets up a last-eight date for Horwich in Derbyshire on March 20.
