GETHIN Jones returned to action as Wanderers’ reserve side drew 1-1 with Fleetwood at the Eddie Davies Academy.

It was the Welshman’s first appearance for the Whites since the death of his mother, Karen Jones.

But it wasn’t all good news for Ian Evatt, with Lloyd Isgrove forced off due to injury on his return to the side.

Isgrove hadn’t featured since a 3-0 win against Doncaster in November after having needing surgery to repair a torn hamstring.

Wanderers named a strong side, with Elias Kachunga, Xavier Amaechi, Kyle Dempsey, Liam Gordon, Alex Baptiste and Joel Dixon all involved.

The Whites nearly took an early lead when Isgrove’s low cross found Elias Kachunga, but the forward was denied by Donaghy before Jay Fitzmartin’s effort was blocked by a defender.

Kyle Dempsey’s corner then found Alex Baptiste in acres of space at the far post but his header was blocked.

At the other end, Garner fired wide from a tight angle after Xavier Amaechi had given the ball away in his own half.

Liam Gordon then had the ball in the net after getting on the end of Jones’ low cross but the goal was chalked off for an offside.

Isgrove was then forced off due to injury, with Max Conway replacing the Welshman as the Whites reverted to a back three.

Dempsey then went for goal with a dipping a free kick from 25 yards but his strike flew over the bar.

10 minutes before the break, the hosts were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box following a handball, but the Bolton bench were insistent it should have been a penalty.

Gordon then picked out Adam Senior with a superb cross from deep but the youngster volleyed over at full-stretch.

On the stroke of half time, Dempsey’c corner fell nicely for Jones on the edge of the box but his shot was blocked by a defender.

Fleetwood started the second half brightly and Joel Dixon had to make a couple of routine saves.

Garner then nearly caught out the Bolton goalkeeper with a clever free kick from out on the right but the Bolton goalkeeper recovered well.

Midway through the second ahlf, Amaechi was denied by a brilliant sliding tackle as he was about to pull the trigger from close range.

Conway then managed to get in behind the Fleetwood defence but he was unable to pick out a Bolton shirt.

But the visitors took the lead 12 minutes from time with a low drive that Dixon was unable to keep out.

Donaghy then made a smart stop low to his right to deny Amaechi after more good play from the Hamnurg loanee.

And Senior rescued a point in the final stages, tapping home from close range after some good work by Gordon.
